UPOU Office of Gender Concerns Celebrates 10 Years of Advocacy and Progress, Aligns with SDG 5, SDG 4, and SDG 17

The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Office of Gender Concerns (OGC) launched its 10th anniversary celebration last 16 October 2024.  The UPOU faculty, staff, and visitors gathered at the lobby of the UPOU Main Building from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm for a fun-filled launching of the Anniversary Celebration. This was done through a vibrant booth set up in the UPOU headquarters which facilitated giving out information flyers with important information about the history, mandate and accomplishments of OGC. The Office of Gender Concerns (OGC) Director, Dr. Finaflor F. Taylan and OGC Project Staff, Dani Mercado participated in the International University Social Responsibility Forum and learning visits held in Kaoshiung, Taiwan on 25-27 September 2024. The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Office of Gender Concerns (OGC) received confirmation of its membership to the CALABARZON Regional Gender and Development Committee (RGADC) of the Regional Development Council of the Region IV-A during its Second Semester 2024 RGADC Meeting on August 28 via video conference. In celebration of Pride Month 2024, Speak OUt: Voices and Stories of LGBTQIA+ Students of UPOU, the most recent episode of the OPEN Talk series, was held on June 18 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Step UP, Speak OUt: UPOU kicks off 2024 Pride Month Celebration, Championing Gender Equality in line with SDG 5

The UP Open University (UPOU) Office of Gender Concerns (OGC) launched the UPOU Pride Month on 5 June 2024 at the UPOU Headquarters. To kick off the campaign, a Pride flag was put around our University’s oblation.
