OGC Director, Asst. Prof. Rameses De Jesus, served as resource speaker for the Mental Health and Gender seminars held at the Auditorium of the Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U). The first seminar was on 06 November 2019, attended by 170 faculty members.

OGC Director, Asst. Prof. Rameses De Jesus, represented UPOU at the opening of the Ugsad public exhibit in Robinsons Mall Iloilo, as well as the inter-agency celebration dinner of Ugsad’s 20th anniversary. Ugsad Regional Gender Resource Center is a coordinating body composed of around 90 institutions that facilitate gender mainstreaming in Region VI (Western Visayas).

OGC Director, Asst. Prof. Rameses De Jesus, served as resource speaker for the Public Forum on Gender and Mental Health, as part of the 20th anniversary celebration of Ugsad (Iloilo Regional Gender Resource Center), held July 25, at the Iloilo Science and Technology University Auditorium, and attended by 60 participants representing various local government units such as the Civil Service Commission, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Corrections, as well as state educational and service units.  This forum was also a first of its kind, as gender and mental health is rarely discussed, and the gathering resulted in a lively discussion [...]

OGC Director, Asst. Prof. Rameses De Jesus, served as resource speaker for the male employees of UP Visayas Miagao during the “Paghangop, Pagbaton ka Paghulag: A Forum on Gender, Men’s Concerns and Anxieties”, in partnership with the UP Visayas Gender and Development Program (UPV GDP), held on July 24, 2019.  This was a first of its kind in UP Visayas, says the inviting GDP Director, as men’s mental health is often a neglected topic, even in their region.

The UPOU OGC presented the seminar entitled, “Stress and Sex: Dynamics for Women and Men”, held at the UPOU Centennial Center for Digital Learning (CCDL) on March 14, 2019. UPOU Office of Gender Concerns in partnership with the All UP Academic Employees’ Union-OU Chapter (AUPAEU-OU Chapter), All UP Workers’ Union-OU Chapter (AUPWU-OU), and Sierreza Zero-Waste Store and Artisan Cafe, organized the UPOU Women’s Month Kick-off Program on March 8, 2019. This event included a short talk about women empowerment and the essence of Women’s Month in relation to the employees’ union and its advocacies. March 8, 2019, UPOU Joins Los Banos “Walk for a Cause”

UP Open University participated in the annual “Walk for a Cause”, the Women’s Month Kickoff Program organized by the local government of Los Baños, Laguna, in celebration of the International Women’s day on March 8, 2019.  Up before sunrise, participants walked from the Trace College grounds to the New Municipal Hall of Los Baños. The walk is an initiative towards the prevention and treatment of cancer in women. UP Open University joins the nation in the celebration of the National Women’s Month this March 2019. With the theme: “WE Make Change Work for Women”, the celebration aims to highlight the empowerment of women as active contributors to and claim holders of development.
