UPOU Office of Gender Concerns in partnership with the Faculty of Management and Development Studies held a forum as part of the Let’s Talk It Over Lecture Series: “Are the Changes Working for Women? A forum on the current legislative updates in the Philippines”. It was held on March 20, 2019, at UPOU Audiovisual Room.
Dr. Carolyn I. Sobritchea, Chairperson of the CHED Technical Panel on Gender and Women’s Studies, and Faculty-In-Charge for the Diploma in Women and Development Program discussed some of the laws in place that current guide gender and development efforts in our country. It was shown that while there exist laws for gender-related issues, poor implementation has been the hindrance for change. Dr. Sobritchea stressed that while seeking input from sectors is essential, seeing outcomes of concerted efforts would be more important to all of us.
