Step UP, Speak OUt: UPOU kicks off 2024 Pride Month Celebration, Championing Gender Equality in line with SDG 5

The UP Open University (UPOU) Office of Gender Concerns (OGC) launched the UPOU Pride Month on 5 June 2024 at the UPOU Headquarters. To kick off the campaign, a Pride flag was put around our University’s oblation. This symbolic gesture not only marks the beginning of our celebration but also serves as a visible reminder of our university's unwavering commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equality for all.  Pride Month is part of UPOU’s advocacy and fight for gender equality and inclusivity through the  UPOU OGC and its Gender Focal Point System. OGC Conducts Gender Sensitivity Orientation for UPOU Male Drivers and CDMO Staff

On April 24, the Office of Gender Concerns conducted a gender sensitivity orientation which discussed basic gender concepts and issues and pertinent laws at the audio-visual room (AVR) at UPOU Headquarters from 10 am to 12 pm. The gender sensitivity orientation was administered by Dr. Finaflor Taylan, the Director of the Office of Gender Concerns, who discussed important Gender and Development (GAD) matters to the male employees of the campus development staff and management office and drivers of UPOU. Students and Faculty Discuss “Women and Gender Studies” as Women’s Month Comes to a Close

The Office of Gender Concerns (OGC) and Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (OVCAA) held a Research Conversation on Women and Gender Studies to mark the end of the Women’s Month Celebration on 4 April 2024. UPOU showcases Women’s Empowerment in Different Contexts through “Babae para sa likas-kaya at inklusibong pag-unlad” Photo Contest

The Office of Gender Concerns held a Women’s Month photo contest for its registered students entitled “Babae para sa likas-kaya at inklusibong pag-unlad“  from March 8 to March 25, 2024.  The photo contest is about showcasing empowered women who have broken barriers and surpassed gender stereotypes: the diversity, strength, and achievements women have achieved through all walks of life shown through one photo. The contest was opened to all enrolled UPOU students. OGC Kicks-off UPOU’s 2024 National Women’s Month Celebration

In time with the celebration of National Women’s Month, the UP Open University (UPOU) Office of Gender Concerns (OGC) launched the UPOU National Women’s Month face-to-face campaign on 6 March 2024 at the UPOU Headquarters. This activity is part of the UPOU’s advocacy and fight for gender equality and women’s empowerment  through the OGC and the UPOU Gender Focal Point System.
