UPOU Office of Gender Concerns in partnership with the Faculty of Management and Development Studies held a Research Forum entitled, “Exploring Women’s Narratives Through Appreciative Inquiry”, on March 22, 2019 at UPOU Audiovisual Room, as part of our Women’s Month celebration. Dr. Cherry Alzona, Organization Development Consultant, discussed how Appreciative Inquiry highlights women empowerment and their roles -- by focusing on their talents and capabilities as women. The UPOU OGC presented the seminar entitled, “Stress and Sex: Dynamics for Women and Men”, held at the UPOU Centennial Center for Digital Learning (CCDL) on March 14, 2019. UPOU Office of Gender Concerns in partnership with the All UP Academic Employees’ Union-OU Chapter (AUPAEU-OU Chapter), All UP Workers’ Union-OU Chapter (AUPWU-OU), and Sierreza Zero-Waste Store and Artisan Cafe, organized the UPOU Women’s Month Kick-off Program on March 8, 2019. This event included a short talk about women empowerment and the essence of Women’s Month in relation to the employees’ union and its advocacies. March 8, 2019, UPOU Joins Los Banos “Walk for a Cause”

UP Open University participated in the annual “Walk for a Cause”, the Women’s Month Kickoff Program organized by the local government of Los Baños, Laguna, in celebration of the International Women’s day on March 8, 2019.  Up before sunrise, participants walked from the Trace College grounds to the New Municipal Hall of Los Baños. The walk is an initiative towards the prevention and treatment of cancer in women. UP Open University joins the nation in the celebration of the National Women’s Month this March 2019. With the theme: “WE Make Change Work for Women”, the celebration aims to highlight the empowerment of women as active contributors to and claim holders of development. UPOU OGC conducts a panel on gender and the academe in the 2018 International Conference on Open and Distance e-Learning

A gender-focused research entitled “Gender Equality in an ODeL Workplace: Capacity Assessment of the University of the Philippines Open University Workforce” by Ms. Pauline Grace Milante of the Faculty of Education and Ms. Rica Valencia of the Office of Gender Concerns was presented during the 3rd International Conference on Open and Distance e-Learning held on 26-28 November 2018, at the Garden Villa Hotel, Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

The UP Open University Office of Gender Concerns (OGC) participates in the 2nd UP System-wide Gender and Development Committee Meeting on 19-20 November 2018 at the UP Center for Women and Gender Studies, UP Diliman, Quezon City. OGC Director, Asst. Prof. Rameses de Jesus, presented the 2018 accomplishment report of the UP Open University. Consultation regarding anti-sexual harassment campaigns in all the UP constituent universities was conducted during the last day of the meeting.

In celebration of the National Children's Month with the theme "Isulong: Tamang Pag-aaruga Para sa Lahat ng Bata", the UPOU Faculty of Management and Development Studies in partnership with the UPOU Office of Gender Concerns, presented a Let's Talk It Over Lecture Series: "Promoting Healthy Development for Very Young Children" Asst. Prof. Rhea Bailey from the Department of Human and Family Development Studies, College of Human Ecology, UP Los Banos, served as the resource person. The lecture was held on 13 November 2018 at the UPOU AudioVisual Room.
